Many treatments cause traumatic experiences, pain and anxiety. This can be different.
Pain- & Anxiety-free teatment
People living with a collagen connective tissue disorder often face medical treatments and procedures throughout their lives. Blood tests, IVs, surgeries, stitches and other medical procedures can be painful or frightening. Especially when someone has to experience them regularly from a young age.
A treatment is more than the medical procedure itself. The way pain, anxiety and stress are addressed influences how someone experiences and processes treatment.
Repeated painful or frightening experiences can lead to anxiety about medical care and even traumatic experiences. This also applies to non-medication-based treatments.
That is why we want to contribute to treatments where pain, anxiety and trauma are prevented wherever possible. By making better use of existing knowledge and possibilities, as well as supporting research into new solutions.
Prof. Dr. P. Leroy: “Let’s recognise the consequences this can have. We want to make people better, but we do not always consider that the journey towards recovery is important too.”
Effective medication is developed when there is sufficient financial potential. To date, there is no effective medication for collagen-related connective tissue disorders. As a result, children can face a great deal from a very young age. Through this platform, we want to raise awareness of the psychological and physical harm this can unnecessarily cause. That is why we also support the importance of scientific research that looks beyond financial return.
Together, we work towards care with less pain and anxiety.
