Do you know one of those moments when you open your eyes widen for a "wow"?
Yesterday, I walked through the renovated courtyard garden of Wilhelmina Children's Hospital of Utrecht. The grand opening for this was last week. Even though I had to miss this celebration, I still wanted to have seen it with my own eyes.
Why?
"thinking outside the box"
A project that allows thinking outside the box makes me happy!
And if you can amaze me, it's exclusively good as far as I'm concerned.
Wondering what I would get to see, I walked across the terrace that was already pleasantly crowded because of the summer weather.
As I continue to walk through this revamped garden, you can feel that this garden was designed with great pleasure and warm cooperation. The experience of a child is also clearly included. It is noticeable that a main line has been that all children should be able to have fun.
From a quiet area to a large playground. Walking, Wheelchair, Skelter, Step. All this doesn't make a difference. Everyone can participate.
I walk further into this garden and look at the playground equipment. Then I also see the trampoline. But what kind of one!
A trampoline that you can also get on with your wheelchair!
Yes, really!
A wheelchair accessible trampoline!
Do you know one of those moments when your eyes widen to a "wow," amazement and wonder? This was one of those moments!
"the bumpy cobblestones"
Then there is also a kind of a hammock which can be climbed as a climbing wall that "hangs" from a playhouse that is built on a small hill. But you can also walk up the hill to get to that playhouse and slide. A tunnel, the walking path with different types of stones, and the bumpy cobblestones which is a fun challenge for the front wheels of a wheelchair. Yes, everything has been thought of.
A-MA-ZING!
All credits to everyone who made this possible, Erik Hulzebos, Kees-Jan van der Klooster, Wilhelmina Children's Hospital and all donations.
What a beautiful place, totally wheelchair accessible, and a place where everyone can participate. Freedom on Wheels and being able to enjoy life is a major focus of our foundation. Also take a look at the page https://powerofreflection.com/en/vrijheid-op-wielen/
As far as I am concerned, exclusively good. I am amazed!
